Unconstitutional Tax Credits
Far from the proper role of government. More tax credits? They obviously have never read the constitution. See information below on the role Missouri House Representative John Voss and Senator Jamie Berger have in adding more tax credits to Missouri’s debt.
“Missouri lawmakers want to keep Missouri newspaper printing operations from moving out of state.
The Columbia Daily Tribune’s parent company, Gannett, announced the closure of its Columbia printing plant in July. The plant printed its last paper in September, and the printing of the Daily Tribune is now done at Gannett’s publication facility in Des Moines, Iowa.
The closure followed a similar move in Springfield in 2020 for the Springfield News Leader, also owned by Gannet. The Springfield plant closed and printing was moved to the now-closed Columbia plant.
John Voss joined Senator Jamie Burger, R-Cape Girardeau, in filing a bill containing a tax credit newspapers could receive for labor costs at newspaper publishing plants.
A qualifying company will be able to receive a tax credit equal to 50 percent of the labor cost incurred throughout the year.
The tax credit has a six-year sunset.
