Pray our nation will seek God in Repentance, Humility, and Prayer.
Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD. (Joel 1:14)
“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD. (Joel 2:12-13a)
Pray a spirit of repentance and hunger for God’s word might sweep our nation.
The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. (Proverbs 8:13)
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 4:17)
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3)
Pray our culture would better understand biblical justice and righteousness
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. (Proverbs 21:3)
Pray God would expose public corruption and root it out.
Unequal weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are not good. (Proverbs 20:23) The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. (Proverbs 5:6)
Pray for the protection of life from the womb and a renewed reverence for biblical marriage
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. (Mark 13:6-9)
Pray for the preservation of religious liberty
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)
Pray for discernment, wisdom, and guidance for people in these confusing days.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. (Psalm 32:8)
Pray for the protection of our nation and that God might stop any terrorist or other attacks.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely. (Psalm 141:10)
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth (Psalm 124:8)
Pray for honest and truthful elections and that any attempts to cheat will fail.
Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! (Psalm 43:1)
Pray for leaders who pursue truth, righteousness, and justice.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate. (Amos 5:15a)
Charles Louis de Secondat, baron de la Bride et de Montesquieu, wrote a fat book entitled The Spirit of the Laws, which our Founders quoted extensively during the Constitutional Convention. Montesquieu asserted that three forms of government existed in the world: Monarchy, Dictatorship and Democracy. Each form relied on a key element for its existence: Monarchy depended on honor. Democracy relied on virtue. Dictatorship relied on fear. He went on to say that whenever one of these governmental forms lost its key element, it collapsed and one of the other two took its place.
America stands on the cusp of losing its republican form of democracy this November. If it does, and if Montesquieu is right, what are the odds of a monarchy filling the void? And if not a monarchy . . .
Government can’t save us. But God can save America’s government – – and America’s people. Please prayerfully vote.
